Re: California dinghy registration madness

I just had to renew the reg on the sailboat too, and did it online. You just tick the box for coastal waters only, and then the cost is $20.

I wanted to be able to use the dinghy anywhere, so I paid for the mussel nonsense.

Sorry if I'm offending anyone, that is not my intention - But how can this be going on in the Land of the Free? That is just oppressive, or am I missing something? We sure don't require all that for a Vessel in Northern Europe (Neither the Dinghy nor the mothership).

You don't have boat registration in Northern Europe?

BTW, whats the VAT rate where you are? It's 9.75% here in California.

No we don't - although the Insurance will have your details.

Point taken 25%

I love USA, it just struck me as a strange that you couldn't just splash a boat and go sailing. We have lot's a (stupid) rules here too, so not the right pot to call the kettle Black
