Re: Uses for totally shot sail?

I had a old sail that seemed far too weathered to be of much use for anything. I ended up donating it to a friend who was building a "pirate ship" playhouse for his kids. The tattered look only made it more appealing. Might also make a great Halloween decoration for a "haunted ship"...

Get plans and sew up a few ditty bags. Excellent practice for sail repair.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

If you're still looking to get rid of it, I have several ideas I could use it for. Willing to buy it and pay shipping. Let me know.

Lady in Oriental, NC that uses old sails to make handbags, chart bags, etc. I understand she will pay for shipping and give you a credit towards goods to boot.

Re: Uses for totally shot sail?

We made a temporary shade-extension using an old sail and bungies off our back porch in the heat of the summer. It had an odd shape, but I thought it looked cool. Gave me something to look at while I was thinking about the boat during the week. Maybe I will get wallet sized photos to carry around with me over the winter, ha!

Tatters? Doesn't that dog in your picture need a new coat? Or bed?

Lampshades, messenger bags, bookcovers, all sorts of uses for old sails. And when all else fails, they can be used for cannon wadding.
