Iosso vs Oxi Clean?

I was strongly recommended, by the guy that built my dodger, to use Iosso Mold and Mildew Cleaner to remove the dirt that has accumulated on the sunbrella over this past sailing season year. While the stuff is not too expensive, it is hard to find. According to him, it comes as a powder, which you mix with +75F water, and magic happens.

Has anyone here used it?

How does it compare to Oxi Clean?
(For those of you that claim not to have heard of it, maybe this will jog your memory...
If not; you gotta watch TV more often.)

Why would Oxi Clean not be as useful at cleaning a bimini, dodger and sailcover?

The craftsmanship that went into that dodger was first class.
The check you wrote for it wasn't chump change. Do you really want to use something other than what was recommended. Just saying :)

I've never used it, but just saw Iosso available on Amazon. Doesn't seem hard to find anyway.

True, and VERY true...

The main issue is availability. I can pick up Oxi Clean almost anywhere. Iosso, not so much. Reading reviews at Amazon for the Iosso, it seems to have mixed success at cleaning. Also; Iosso costs about $1/ounce. Oxi Clean is about $0.25/ounce.

Simarly, I also use Kubota D850 tractor parts on my Universal M25 from the local Kubota dealer. I can pick up my parts up on the way to the boat instead of waiting two days, to two months for Torreson. Also; I pay a third, to a tenth of what Torreson charges for genuine Universal parts. Other than a coat of Universal Bronze, there is no difference.

Is it in evidence that Oxy and Iosso are the same chemical product, like the Universal/Kubota analogy?

That IS my question...

You could contact the companies & request a MSDS for the products.
This would allow you to compare the chemicals in both.

OK - nobody here knows..

I just purchased the Iosso stuff from Amazon, and I'll give it a whirl on the dodger. I may do a side by side with Oxi Clean, using an old sailcover. If I do, I'll post a followup.

BTW, this is the picture that showed that I needed to clean the dodger;

If you look under the V shaped window, you will see a trail of grime.

I sent this picture to the guy that built the dodger, and he called me to tell me how he cleans the dodgers that are sent to him.
