Re: Confused about prop pitch, variance between prop brands
Edson's installation manuals say a stop is required to avoid damaging the main steering cog, so I will put one back in. My stops are made of aluminum angle extrusion and it looks like flipping them will give the intended amount of travel. I sort of wonder if they were just installed backwards at the factory.
I'm going to do a quick haul to install the prop. It is cheaper than hiring a diver and easier than doing it myself while diving (I'm scuba certified by have no experience working on boats underwater). Quick haul is about $150 for one hour of having the boat hang in the slings, while the most commonly hired diver in my marina wanted $450 regardless of prop model. Featherstream prop installation is done with the prop intact (instead of in pieces like the Max-Prop) so I should be able to keep it under one hour, and have time to change my zincs.
