Perkins 4-107

Have a Perkins 4-107 in an Alberg 37. Engine has about 1800 hrs on a major overhaul. The engine is becoming somewhat hard to start, and is putting out quite a bit of "blue" smoke, and is leaving a slight "sheen" on the water. It seems to run OK and seems to not have lost any power. Could this be a injector pump timing problem? A set of rebuilt injectors did not help the problem. I want to explore any possibilities before we pull the engine. Any ideas are appreciated.

Tom, what do the folks at www.alberg37.org/index.htm say? I''m guessing somewhere there is ahead of you on the engine hrs. curve.

I can''t help the problem but...I lived aboard for 10+ yrs on the ICW in Florida and saw many 4-107s with 3000-5000 hrs and still running perfect. Injector pumps were the normal "major repair".
