Replace Mast Wiring

I purchased a Catalina 25 and need to replace the mast wiring. The mast is unstepped. Need some advise about how to run the new wire through the mast.

Replace Mast Wiring

I thought someone had already answered this, but here are some methods. If the old wiring is still in place in the mast, tape/tie the new wiring to it and use the old as a messenger line to pull the new into place. If the old wiring is already out, use an electrician''s snake (available at the Home Despot nearest you for less than $20). Push the snake up through the mast, tape/tie the new wiring to the end, then pull the snake back out. you can do that as many times as you need for each wire, or gang the wires together, or pull one wire and several messenger lines at one time with the snake.

In place of the snake, you also can push a long length of heavy elecrical wire through the mast. It only has to be heavy enough to keep going when you push it through. Your mast may have some conduit inside to hold the wires, so run the snake through it to get the new wires inside.
