i was in the panhandle of florida 3 weeks ago, yes there were some boats up for auction, but nothing like what i thought it would be. I was looking for some big self tailors... no parts whatsoever...

Your question is well founded, where are all the parts ?

I would imagine that all the “parts” are “on the boats”.
The Insurance companies don’t “part out” the boats, but sell them whole “as is”.

Friends who left Alabama recently, headed back down to the W Caribbean, told me they saw a huge improvised storage yard adjacent to the commercial shipping docks in Pensacola, packed full of storm-damaged boats. They estimated maybe 300 or 350 hulls were stored there.

If you want to start ''shopping'' at the other end of the daisy chain, I would suggest calling some of the main carriers or their key agents (Boat/U.S., IMIS, perhaps the local State Farm office) and inquire about disposition of these boats.

I agree with Gord. It''s we owners, if uninsured, who tend to part out our boats. Carriers and their adjusters can''t be bothered and it isn''t part of their business model.

Jack

I''m in desperate need of stanchion bases for my 1984 Hunter 31. I live in the Panhandle and have been to the Destin and Pensacola auction sites (200+ boats). I know some of these boats will be parted out, but they will not release the new owner info.
