Cell phone

I am considering adding a cell phone to my coms gear. This is for coastal cruising. The main problem, I understand, is marginal reception/transmission due to distance from the covergae areas. Anyone have experience with this? What kind of special gear would be available for this? The only things I have found so far are the Raycom (Raymarine) Cellular Fixed Wireless Terminal, and the Wilson Dual Band Mirror Mount Trucker Antenna.

I''ve had this problem with a newer digital cell phone. If you have an older analog cell phone (verizon wants me to give mine up) you have a lot more power and can make calles from much farther out.
