I have just finished working on my "monster" Keefe windlass. I am looking for anyone who might have the manual or any info on this brand of windlass. It has a Boston Gear-series 200 gearbox and a deckplate that measures about 12x12 and a 8" gypsy. It is on my 1980 Sunward and is a workhorse...but its one of the few parts on my boat I don''t have and cannot find info on. Any Help???
ondro,
i am in the same boat with a keefe windlass. did you have any luck on finding a manual. i'd like to do some maintenance/grease but before i try to pull it apart i'd like a little guidance.
thanks, mark
hi guilietta,
thanks for the update on ondro...i did see that it was posted a while back...thought maybe they had found a manual by now.
happy sails....and, uh, hare rama....
cheers, mark
I was just searching on Keefe windlass and saw your post saying you had a manual. Any chance I could get a copy? I have a Keefe on the bow of my Force 50 and would love to know what I was getting into before I open it up.
Well, then you have an easy problem. It's a wiring problem rather than a problem with the winch proper. When you say you "jump it" do you connect it directly to a battery, short across terminals that a button would connect, or what?
Does anyone have a Keefe windlass operating manual. I have Model B with Boston Gear 300 series hollow shaft speed reducers. I need some assistance on how the unit operates.
I have a operating manual for this Keefe Windlass. Does anyone know the required chain pitch? I know the chain must be 3/8'' but I can't find the pitch.
I'm seeking a copy of the Keefe Windlass manual but don't seem to be able to send you a private message so am posting here. Please reply with contact info Thank you!
Balmar (the alternator people) purchased the Keefe windlass business many years ago and still has a very limited supply of parts. I would check with them.
I saw you had posted this info earlier but I understand Balmar is no longer a resource. My posting was in hopes of a response from JustanoldBN and/or WadeC both of whom mention that they the manual I seek.
