Greasing Outboard

Nissan 8 hp. I can''t force grease into the the bottom pivot bearing. The top bearing is OK.

It looks like the old grease hardened up in the bearing, or possibly there''s some corrosion in there. As a consequence it takes quite a bit of force on the tiller to pivot the engine and steer the dinghy.

Is there any way to clean out the old grease?

Does the injection nipple need to be replaced?

Thanks for the reply. No, I took the grease fitting off and it checked out OK. No blockage.

Dropped it in the water trying to put it back, but that''s another story . . . .
