Water inside mast

I have an access hole on the side of my mast about 4 inches from the bottom of the mast. about 1 inch square. While looking inside I found that there is about 2 inches of water lying in the bottom. What is the fix? Drill a couple of small holes at bottom of mast or what. Thanks

Sounds like that should work. When you go to do it you may find some holes in the mast''s baseplate that got filled in somehow, and just need reaming out.
