Cellular phone amplifiers & antennas

I am considering installing a Digital Antenna Cellular Amplifier with a 9dB gain mast mounted antenna and a 2nd inside antenna (to permit wireless connection to phone) on a 38 foot sailboat. I have a 50+ ft. mast (the min. distance separation 20'') between antennas but need to make sure there is sufficient attenuation of the signal from the mast mounted antenna so as to not cancel out the inside antenna (the deck is apparently not sufficient). Has any one ever installed such a configuration or have any suggestions on how to increase the attenuation of the signal from the exterior antenna above the inside antenna?
