Why spend thousands for electric winches?

I use a similar bit with my 18VDC Milwaukee 90 degree drill, which is capable of generating 50 ft-lbs. of torque. With the drill I can raise the mainsail very easily. I can even hoist my wife to the top of the mast with just one battery. I have a second battery, and with it she can hoist me to the mast-top.

I''m considering buying their 12VDC to 18VDC charger. With it, one battery will be charging while the other is ready for use.
