Caliber 33 Questions

Hello Caliber owners - I just purchased a 1990 Caliber 33 and it has no sound system. My question is what''s the best location for the stereo/cd player. Ideally I''d like to use the remote from the cockpit. Any thoughts? One other question. I need to obtain a locking pin for the bow roller. Any idea where to get one.

Thanks

Peter

Re: Caliber 33 Questions

We sail a 1989 33' EZ Breezes, our system is mounted in the forward port locker, remote makes it work from the cockpit, we made the locking pin out of a 5/16"ss bolt with a spring pin, How long have you had your S/V? We presently are in NC doing a re-fit to get back on the water, headed south to the islands, EZ

Re: Caliber 33 Questions

Peter, try to find a stereo with an RF remote. This way you will not need line of sight to use the remote. Crutchfield.com sells some. Another great option is the Fusion 700 series which has an Android/iPhone/iPad remote application. You can literally bury the head unit and control the stereo via wifi and your mobile phone or tablet.

Re: Caliber 33 Questions

I would suggest you not use your android, but get a seperate wireless or wired remote so that you can also control your i pod selections too. Most Android/ smartphone apps do not have this functionality.

We have a wried remote from our Helm station and also a stero jack there so we can put the i pod and change selections from there without having to go below.

Both wired remotes come up though the pedestal gaurd tube and into the top gran prix nav pod wich also has instruments and autohelm modules. I installed myself if you need further info.
