Solid Vang Installation-C270

I have purchased a Garhauer solid boom vang for my 1994 Catalina 270. There are no instructions with the vang and the fitting for connecting under the boom seems to be the wrong one. Has anyone installed one on their 270 who can give tips. Thanks. Randy

Thank you for the informative solid vang email. that does help. Did Garhauer supply you with any written material re: installation? I received none but I bought mine through a dealer. If you have anything maybe you could fax it to me or scan and email it??? It sounds like it needs to be mounted on the mast as low as possible, correct? How did you determine where on the boom to mount the bracket? Is there a desired angle or something? Thanks for your time. Randy

Randy,

Call Garhauer and ask to speak to someone in tech support. They are a most helpful outfit and can give you all kinds of pointers on how to install the solid vang. They also can verify that the attachment plates are correct. Contact info is at www.garhauermarine.com. I installed one on my former boat (P-27) and checked with them first. Their input was invaluable.
