Water hose

Hey everyone,
my water hose keeps popping off of my hot water tank and it''s driving me bonkers. I have 2 clamps on it and it still pops off. Just today (I am home sick) I had to go out into the freezing cold, (up here at Constitution Marina in Charlestown, MA) shut the main water off, then reconnect the hose and tighten the clamps 3 times before I decided to just keep the water off for the day.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep this bloody thing connected?

Thanks (in advance) ever so much!

Water hose

Danielle - I haven''t seen the problem but from here it sounds as if the hose is too large or is old and hard. The hose should be difficult to push over the nipple that you''r connecting to, usually requiris a lot of effort or warming the hose to get it on. Usually there is a raised (bump)on the pipe your connecting to, the hose clamp goes behind the bump and won''t slide off. If the hose is so old and hard that the clamp can''t squeeze it down then it won''t stay on.

It''s hard to say what your problem is without being there, I''m guessing that a new hose of the proper size is needed.

Water hose

I chartered a boat that had an engine cooling hose that popped off repeatedly. The hose had wire reinforcement woven into it, and the wire made it feel like the clamps were tight, when they really weren''t. I had to tighten the hose clamps even more, to crush the wire slightly, so it would seal tightly around the fitting.
Try tightening the clamps more.

Water hose

Hi,

I believe it might be the old hose. You must also check the condition of the pipe you aree connecting the hose to. If it is cracked it will collapse with tightening.

regards
