Something to hold tiller in place

When sailing the Lightning I need something to temporarily hold the tiller in place when tending the jib sheets.:confused:

You can get a thing called Tiller Tamer from Davis, or make something similar yourself.

One more vote for the tiller tamer. Simple and not terribly expensive. The only downside that I see is drilling holes in your tiller.

Have you considered a tiller extension, you can keep a hand on the tiller from anywhere in the boat usually.

WaveFront TillerClutch Kit

This is the one i'm getting for my 22 footer. I have read great things about it and i like the idea of the finger tip control.

Basic; just two rubberbands tied of the sides of boat, then looped over the tiller handle.Sometimes balanced, other time double looped on one side.......Dale

A tiller extension is a must on the dinghy. You can hold it between your knees while adjusting other lines. I do this all of the time on my 5o5.

A line running between two aft cleats, one on each side of the boat, with a clove hitch going around the tiller works really well. I liked it better than the tiller tamer, which always felt like it was getting in the way and added friction to regular steering.
