Re: Smooth epoxy base for clear coat finish
I had issues on my mizzen mast with orange peel epoxy...so I had to scrape a lot off, air dry it and then sand off a lot, then apply epoxy
so no I would not under any circumstances apply a fresh coat of varnish on semi cured epoxy
I mean I would have better luck simply mixing slow cure epoxy and varnish together...but you miss the benefits of epoxy first and varnish after
epifanes was the bees knees back then, dont know what it is now but Im a firm beleive on many coats of varnish...and a coat or 2 after each season to maintain thickness and gloss
its when you let the varbnish get thin and sunburnt and it starts peeling that you have to make a decision to strip or re aplly with the same or other method
for example my spreaders where the first to suffer so I started there again
Merit 25 sold...Islander 36 still afloat? who knows...Im still in Columbus, and back...I think...jajajaja!!!!
