I had issues on my mizzen mast with orange peel epoxy...so I had to scrape a lot off, air dry it and then sand off a lot, then apply epoxy

so no I would not under any circumstances apply a fresh coat of varnish on semi cured epoxy

I mean I would have better luck simply mixing slow cure epoxy and varnish together...but you miss the benefits of epoxy first and varnish after

epifanes was the bees knees back then, dont know what it is now but Im a firm beleive on many coats of varnish...and a coat or 2 after each season to maintain thickness and gloss

its when you let the varbnish get thin and sunburnt and it starts peeling that you have to make a decision to strip or re aplly with the same or other method

for example my spreaders where the first to suffer so I started there again

Epifanes is still the best varnish I have ever used.
