mooring and dock equipment

I''d like to chat with anyone who has experienced problems or inconveniences when mooring or docking their boat. I am looking for a product out there that will make it easy to hitch to my mooring when I sail solo. Same for docking. Is there a market for this, or am I the only one that wants an "auto-moor" device?

A long line is all you need to help you moor solo. Run a line from the cockpit, along the side deck, thru the chock and back outside the lifelines back to the cockpit. Approach the mooring as you normally do and let the mooring come along side the boat near the cockpit. Tie the end of the line you set up to the mooring and start pulling. Good luck.

There have been quite a number of "hooker" products sold over the years that have various types of trigger springs that insert the line in or round a cleat or mooring.

I don''t know how successful they are, or if they have stayed on the market. Personally I would be rather embarrased to use one in case someone saw me.
