Raytheon rl70 display problem

Hi all.

I have one slave screen plus one master on my ship. The master is showing the chart and the slave is showing the radar, but for some reason I cant share the data in between the two. Was working fine for 2 years but this summer no luck. Any ideas ?

Re: Raytheon rl70 display problem

I had a similar system until my last lightning strike. I'm not sure what you mean by master and slave. From your description, I assume that you have the radar dome connected to one unit and the chart card in the other. Try switching the chart card to the other unit if you can. It should work at one end. The radar data and the chart data are passed between the two units via the HSB connection. It sounds like that has gone bad.

Re: Raytheon rl70 display problem

Yeah. Check the HSB cable between the two units. Reseat the connectors and the terminators.
Also, are they both HSB1 (as opposed to the later HSB2) models? If they both say Raytheon when booting, then probably they are HSB1. If they say Raymarine, then HSB2. If you have an HSB and and HSB2 unit connected, they may or may not work, and this can depend for example on the chart card being used.
But I'm almost certain, that this is only a connection issue, as 95% of the marine electronics problems are.
If you are unlucky, then it might be a problem with one or more of the units. If you replace them from say eBay, then whatch out for the HSB1 vs. HSB2 issue!
