A small success

To quote Tom Hanks in Cast Away (kind of):

First time doing fiberglass and it wasn't that bad. Had a small section of rot in my forward bilge so I cut it out, pulled up the West System manual on my phone, double checked every step, and had at it. It looks like a first timer did it, but boy am I proud of myself!

I think I hit rock bottom on the di$coveries on the boat about two weeks ago and now we're slowly clawing off the lee shore of deferred maintenance!

Who knows what tomorrow will bring but today's an up day!

1975 Irwin 28 - hasn't earned a new name yet, but at this point it might not be flattering.

Congrats - FWIW the main difference between newbie and experienced fiberglassers is neatness of workmanship. The more you do the neater it gets and the less scratchy & itchy grinding you have to do.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

The secret to getting a good finish is PEEL PLY.

I don't know how many times I have paraphrased Tom Hanks in Cast-a-way.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who talks to volleyballs.
