compass refill

I have a water-filled compass that is currently only half filled with water. Works fine, but does it make economic sense to try to have it refilled, or should I just buy a new compass? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

compass refill

I suspect that''s probably a water-spirit mixture, rather than just water, Grey99. (Some compasses are oil-filled, too.) Whatever, it will probably be less expensive to have this one refilled, than to buy a new one. On the other hand, if this was one you didn''t like much, anyway, now would be a great time to upgrade, I guess.

compass refill

Hi--

The compass is an oil-filled teleflex - which can be refilled but apparently have a long standing problem with bubbles forming (from slow leaks). I can have it rebuilt/refilled, try to refill it myself with refill oil available from marine stores or upgrade. I am leaning towards upgrade -- any recommendations on compasses? Thanks!
