Impeller is sticking.

Hi All,

The flexible impeller in my Jabsco water pump is seizing up. I'm certain it's the correct impeller for the model pump, and it works when I initially put it in. After a few days, it seems it must have swollen and rubs the cover plate to the extent that it will not turn anymore. What gives?

i just got a new boat and i'm getting ready to replace the impeller. the instructions call for lubing it up with some kind of special lube - i think glycerine.

If the cover plate is scored, you need to replace the cover plate as well as the impeller. Try using a GLOBE impeller as they last longer and can be run dry for up to 15 minutes...I've had real good luck with them. Here's a link & there is a cross reference for Jabsco on the site.
