Catalina 22 rudder

Greetings,
I have a problem. I'm trying to remove the tiller and rudder from my Cat 22. At the beginning of last season I put the rudder on the boat by simply slipping the two pins on the rudder into the two gudgeons on the transom. I want to remove the rudder so I can install the mast crutch and trailer the boat properly.
However, no matter how hard I push up on the rudder the pins won't budge out of the gudgeons. I've had a couple yard mechanics try and they had no luck either. We sprayed some penetrating oil on it but no good. The rudder swings left to right easily so it's not all seized up and I know there is that little spring tab near one of the pins but that is not even touching yet.
Is there some trick I don't know about to removing this rudder/tiller unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No trick but they can be a little bit stubborn. I would put blocks underneath and use an oak board to lever it up while someone on the boat pulls it up. You really should not trailer it on the road with the rudder on.
