creating a loop in braided core line
The following explanation leaves out many steps in the process of creating a loop in braided core line. The steps are for illustration purposes to explain my question.
After removing the core from the sleeve the next step is to insert the sleeve back through the core. After that the core is inserted through the sleeve and exits where the core was extracted from the sleeve.
My question is should the core go further into the sleeve past the point at which the core is extracted from the sleeve to provide a stronger loop.

Having done a lot of splicing of double braided line, I''ve learned that the single most important step in the process is to accurately mark the line per splicing instructions and to precisely follow those marks when extracting or inserting the components. When I began splicing, I had the same questions and did some experimenting. Sometimes I got lucky but, more often than not, I ended up wasting a couple of feet of line because either the core or cover ended up being too short. If you have poor instructions go to and find some excellent instructions with good illustrations.
