I need to get my anchor regalvanized in the fall. The problem is that the minimum charge is about CA$320. The minimum would allow you to get about 600 pounds done. Wondering if anyone else in southern Ontario is in need of galvanizing? We could go together to share the cost.
When are you planning to do it Bruce? We have about 250' of 3/8 chain that could use a regalvanizing. Not all of it is that bad, but I think it's worth it before we head off to the salt.
Unfortunately we won't be back to the boat till near the end of July. If you can wait till then, and we can work out the logistics, we'd likely go in with you.
I can do it any time. I thought that it might make sense to wait until boats are hauled for the winter but if people want to do it sooner that is fine. I suspect the turnaround is pretty quick. Certainly we can talk about it after you are in Belleville. We bought new chain from Defender a month or so ago. Ours was too far gone to make galvanizing an issue. We end-for-ended the chain (Australia I think) but there result is that the ends were not too bad but the middle part that got a lot of use was in sad shape.
We are not far from you and could pick up the chain and take it to the shop with our anchor. We pay based on weight. Hope we can get a few more people onboard.
Sounds good. We'll connect when we get down there. We can definitely wait till the fall since we're not even sailing this year.
