Rub Rail - adhesive?
We have a newsed Catalina 36. She's a great boat, but I saw where one Catalina owner described the rub rail's sole purpose was to protect the dock.
On two occasions recently we have rubbed against a piling, and the rubber rail has come out of its track and had to be removed from that point all the way aft and then tapped back in with a rubber mallet. This caused the rubber to be stretched slightly, resulting in a short piece of excess rubber by the time I got to the stern. This was then cut off.
Is there any reason not to put some silicone in the track the next time I have to reinsert the rubber? I'm not talking about 5200ing it!
