md11c shift problems
I have a 1980 Hughes Northstar 35 with a Volvo Penta md11c diesel engine. The shift linkage on my md11c needed to be reattached at the shift armiture on the saildrive. After contorting myself into a pretzel to get to it, the reattachment was easy to do, but when I tried it out, I could not find the neutral range. At the point where the transmission usually moved from forward into neutral, it went from forward straight into reverse. The same happened when trying to move from reverse into neutral - it went directly into forward. Is there any advise anyone can give me to correct the problem - I'm stumped - thank you - Noel Fales
Hi, I have an MD11C with the MSB inline gearbox and I've re-built both - Since I don't have the saildrive though, I can't picture the gear change linkage on your 'box. Post a picture of the linkage on the box if you can, and I'll do what I can to help.
When I replaced my linkages, I had to fiddle around with the end terminals to get exactly the right distance between the centre position of my single-lever morse control and the neutral position on the gearbox. It's not a very wide band of movement between being in reverse and being in forward.
anyone selling volvo penta MD11C marine engine with gearbox, more interested in working gearbox than engine.
