Universal M430 Injector Pump Springs

We have a sailboat that has a motor that sat with water in the oil for 3 years. After putting approximately 200 hours on the motor, it seems fine. However, we need to buy a set of injector pump springs. The springs were broken, and we replaced them with a 5" long 5/8" diameter spring cut in 4 from a hardward store. Don't laugh but so far so good. We would like the right springs but don't want to spend $900.00 on a diesel injector pump service that is not necessary. Does anyone know where I might get a hold of these springs or kit for the pump without sending it away?

Thanks,

Pat and Jen

Re: Universal M430 Injector Pump Springs

I have my injector pump completely dismantled at this moment, beginning to polish and clean all the parts. Three of the four springs are broken. I can't see anything wrong with any of the other moving parts except some tarnishing. Am curious. Where did you folks find your springs, or did you ever find them? What kind did you find at the hardware store? You said not to laugh, but I can't help it. Did the hardware store springs actually work? I say, "BRAVO" for trying. Many have told me that only a diesel injection specialist can rebuild these pumps and not to even try. If I can find those springs, I do believe I can put this thing back together again and get on my life. Thanks for any info.
