Cleaning life vests

Now that most everything is cleaned, folded , and tucked away for the season, one item is left. I have two standard type IV life jackets that lived the season on the bottom of the dinghy we use to scoot back and forth to the mooring field. Normally I have a locker at the boatyard but due to the construction of a new building this year no storage was available. So after sitting in slop, dust , being stepped on etc, they are grungy...I was thinking easy way, in the washing machine then hang to dry. Anyone give this a go before?

Re: Cleaning life vests

The problem is that they float so it might be hard to put them in the washing machine unless you have a front loading one.

When the wife is at work, just put them one or two at a time in the dishwasher.

DO NOT, under any circumstances either:
A. Fall asleep in front of the TV and leave them there for her to find.
B. Tell her that I told you to do this.
C. All of the above.
D. This is not a test, you will get us both in trouble.

I wear mine in the shower, as both a fashion item and for safety reasons...but you already knew that.
