Glow plugs are very cheap on Amazon.com Maybe too cheap. I have never ordered them as my engine does not requier them, but a friend has used them...so far so good...but I'm skeptical.
Most online "marine engine" parts places will rip you off blind for this kind of stuff. There is a vast conspiracy to separate unsuspecting boaters from their money out there in the marine business.
The link Rhapsody-NS27 was kind enough to supply shows them costing ~ $71/per plug.
If you can cross reference the 5411 engine to the Kubota block # you should be able to get glow plugs for < $10/per plug.
Sorry, I don't have a link for you but there is a discussion thread here somewhere about "Universal/Kubota cross reference" listing.
Z500 kubota engine block #. Now, what tractor model the Z500 was used in ... because you order parts by tractor model rather than engine block from Kubota.
From my link and thanks to denise, the tractor model was B6000 so here are your plugs: https://www.tractorpartsasap.com/kubota-b6000-electrical-s/56549.htm
I'm not entirely sure that one from Amazon is the exact model though. I'd probably spring for the tractorpartsasap $15 plugs as they are at least indicated for your engine.
Call a Kubota tractor store, tell them your block # ( you should also know the Kubota block #, not only your Universal engine #) and they can drop ship them to you in a day or so. Unless you go the further step and find a Kubota tractor store near you. If you're in a big city, guess not.
my. YE 01 plugs ( nkg) were $29/per from Kubota tractor dealer. ones for another block were larger and only $12.95 .... dammit ! I used the stamped block number and * finally * got the right ones.
You start by identifying the Kubota OEM number, by motor>tractor, which should be 15231-65512 (always double check it). You then go to NGK and cross it over to an NGK # (6625) Y-107-1. You will find the Kubota to NGK cross overs on page 371 of the 2013-2014 NGK spark plug and glow plug cross reference book.
Thinking back, it was a late 1980's Universal 25 hp. The "marine" glow plugs ran around $80 each and the Amazon NGK version ran around $8.
So, from a professional standpoint, are these $8 plugs just as good in a marine environment? It's one thing to increase markup due to location or volume, but that's just not nice.
