Bay Area Antifoul Paint Choices

I am new to the Bay Area and will be keeping my 34'' sloop in San Fran. Bay (Marina Bay, Richmond CA.). Any thoughts on the most effective antifoul paints for the area. I was going to apply 2 coats of Ameron''s ablative ABC3 over a new coat of Woolsey vynle antifoul product but have been hearing that most boats are going with a hard finish like Petit''s Trinadad SL etc... Any thoughts Please? Thx

Shipley- I keep my boat in Richmond too and used Petit Trinidad SR with the biocide additive in July this year. I''ve been very happy with it.

Thx for the reply. I did go w/the Trinidad SR. Any suggestions on good overnight anchorages/docks for weekend trips w/family in the Bay or Ocean

Besides the obvious choice of Angel Island, you might enjoy a nice downwind sail to Benicia or further on to the Delta. If you go far enough up the Delta, there''s fresh water and it''s warm. We''re also looking forward to Half Moon bay and Santa Cruz this Summer. We keep our Islander 36 at Marina Bay in Richmond. Are you in the area?

Hey, if I read a little more carefully, I would see that we''re in the same marina. I''m on "D" dock.

Dido. on D also. have 34 Irwin but cant recall slip #. Its towards the end and on land side. Only been there a few months but love it. Great place in comparison to marinas in New Jersey (home port) and was surprised how reasonable as NJ averaged $2,000 to $3,000 for 4 months. However, surprisingly, slips are the only thing we''ve found reasonble in the Bay Area, but truely enjoying the local. Thx for the tips on cruising. Is Angel Island worth exploring and I assume anchorage is on Tiberon side - would that be correct or do the have a dock? Safe for overnight anchorage? Also, sailed over to Pier 39 w/kids recently to spend the night. Lots of fun but they put you next to the sea lion dock which is fun for the first 45 minutes of barking. Then you decide to sleep and relize they dont. Any thoughts on where to berth for a night and still be close to city attractions? Also, drove up Rt 1 (or as they say, "took the 1")to Bodega Bay last Sat. Cool town, reminded me of smaller sea coast towns in New England with crabs the size of Maine lobsters. Is it a difficult sail fro our area or do most of the locals usually hang a left once clearing Golden Gate and head South? Monteray a good weekend cruise (ie..wind, currents)? Again, Thx for your thoughts.
