Catalina 30 Exhaust Hose Replacement

I've got a 1982 Catalina 30 with an M3-20. The exhaust water mixer rusted out so I'm replacing that. WHile I was in there, I started checking the exhaust hose. It looks like there are numerous cracks in the hose in several areas and I think it's time to replace it while everything else is torn apart. This looks like an unpleasant job. Does anyone have any helpful hints or other advice before I tackle this ugly job?
