Treadmaster

Deck of our old thing has Treadmaster non skid. It's all about 20 years old, becoming quite brittle and is ready for replacement. The Treadmaster has obviously stood up very well, my only gripes would be that it is a bit hard on bare feet and gets bloody hot when exposed to direct sun for a couple of hours. Anyone have any ideas for an alternative solution or for that matter any comments on the heat issue ? I'm content to live with the surface being hard on the feet in return for TMs fantastic grip so the heat issue is more of a problem. Any thoughts ?
Cheers

The heat issue is purely a function of colour. Go to a light color (the lighter the better) and the temperature drops dramatically. Greys in particular seem to heat up even if they are relatively light shades. The other issue you'll face is removal - I ended up with a deep blister in my palm this past summer from removing about 8 sq ft of degraded TM. A stiff scraper seemed the ticket, followed by solvent removal of the dried adhesive.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that Grey was such a problem but if the cap fits ! Thanks so much for that, we had been tossing up between the Greys and Sand. Looks like I know which way to go. I'm also hoping that a steel deck might be easier for removal than glass. We shall see.
Cheers

Check out the treadmaster sand color it is an off white that I have on my boat and it does not heat up.

A belt ander with a 30 grit belt will go through treadmaster rather nicely and is a good way to remove it from a steel deck.

I'm not convinced that any method requiring a belt sander can be termed "good". Dirty, messy, horrible , all yes, but good ? No way. A good method is one where you blink and your fairy godmother has done it all for you. I'm being silly, of course. Thanks for the tip, now I know what to get my good lady wife for her birthday. ;-)

LOL, true...

Perhaps I should have said a fast method of removal...
You are quite right about dirty/messy.

Every woman secretly wants a belt sander...
She'll never forget that gift as long as she lives
Go for it!
