PC Charts for San Diego to Panama

Does anyone have current PC charts for San Diego to Panama? I know you can get all the US charts fro free, but all I can find is $249 from San Diego to Mexico then another $249 to Panama... ouch! I am only passing by the west coast on my way to the Virgin Islands and really dont want to invest that much in charts I will never use again. They should make a trip pack that a person can get for trips like this.
