Inflating a dinghy

I was given a dinghy at Christmas, I need to inflate it by tomorrow. I don't understand how the valve works. Am I missing some attachment that goes on my compressor? When I push the valve down more air comes out than goes in. Somebody help

Re: Inflating a dinghy

It should have come with a pump. Halkey-Roberts valve looks like the valve on our inflatable SUP. The fitting at the end of the pump hose twists in and pushes the plunger down when it locks. The dealer ought to be able to get you the right pump. I don't know about a compressor adaptor.
