Jim, Sailingdog seems like an OK guy, but if this is true, then I don't really have much sympathy for him. He gives a lot of flak, so he ought to expect to take a little as well. You know?

Case in point: He put me on his ignore list after I gave him what I considered to be some friendly good-natured ribbing that was itself in response to him ribbing me (which I found funny). So I think he's maybe a bit over-sensitive. Who knows. That's my Dr. Phil for today.

Unfortunately, my spin halyard decided to take the elevator to the roof a month later, so now a climb is on my to-do list.
Don't think i don't notice this.

I talked to him on the phone the other day.. seemed alright then.

But I didn't ask him about his absence. Good guy with a great heart. Really.

I didn't mean to suggest I thought his "feelings were hurt," and I don't think he has trouble "taking flak."

Honestly don't know. Wasn't there for that exchange. However, and I'm not implying the following applies to you or in the instance you related, I get the impression SD usually puts people on ignore he simply doesn't feel warrant his attention--for whatever reason. I have one on my ignore list like that, now. (No, it's not due to anything he's addressed to me.) There are others whose ramblings I mainly disregard, even if I do read them. There's no way for somebody to know whether I'm disregarding their comments as inconsequential, simply not reading them at all, or have them on ignore (which I very rarely use), because I don't advertise the fact.

Jim

Just been stuck in NOC with no external data access for stupidly long hours this past week...and breaching their firewall to visit sailnet didn't seem like a good idea.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

sandboy is on a distinguished road
I have a Santana 22 unlike many on here the idea of going and getting my mast pulled out everytime i need to fix something at the top of the mast seemed a bit silly I have entered a simple method of climbing to the top of your mast anytime you like with no strength required under the heading of mountain climbing gear in this same forum you only need one other person to help no winches are needed & the cost of the foot acender will pay for itself many times over cheers Guy's happy climbing

I own a santana 22 and the thought of going to get my mast pulled out everytime I need to fix something at the top of my mast seemed crazy I worked out an easy method of climbing the mast no strength required no winches need to be used except maybe to hold a safety line you need to go to a mountain climbing shop and buya foot ascender [petzlbo2 is the one I have]it'll pay for itsel many times over plus a bosun's chair which every yacht should have anyway using anther halyard pull a 8mm old sheet to the top of your mast this is your climbing rope now attach your bosun's chair to anther halyard and your ready to go I'm thinking all yachts have at least three halyard's you'll need a decent pair of boot's and thick sock's you sit in the bosun's chair attah the ascender to the climbing rope push done with your footwhich will lift you out of the chair have second person pull the chair up to you then push down with you foot again keep doing this until your at the top of the mast to come down or you do is kick your foot the ascender will come free and the crew member will lower you in the bosun's chair if you weren't going up to retrieve the main halyard you can tie this to you sel as a safety line i have tried this with many club member's including an 80yr old who now climbs to the top of his compass 28 to do his own repair's cheers and happy climbing
