If I strip, will you look at my bottom?

Hah. Got you to look. Is there anyone out there with any expertise in light medium (ie., bicarbonate of soda) sandblasting? I saw it done once several years ago and was amazed at how it cleaned a theretofore never stripped 1961 Hinckley Pilot 35 to gelcoat perfectly. They tried "Peel Away" to absolutely no avail, then brought in this soda-blaster and did the job in less than 4 hours. Some of the paint seemed 1/4" thick. I thinking tenting a boat in a manner similar to asbestos removal, with positive air dust recovery, ground covering and blasting (with a pos. air suit on)should yield about a quart or so of dry material on a 40'' boat. I think that''s where we''re heading, and I''m very interested in it. Time to run some cost-benefit calcs. Anyone seen this done or anything similar to it? Any resources for the equipment, positive air systems, etc? KW

Call "George" at Bahia Beach Marina in Ruskin FL. I don''t have the number handy, but the marina has a website. When I bought my boat last year it was on the hard there and I watched them "blast" several boats in the yard there.

I recently took ten coats of bottom paint off my boat with Peel Away 1 I got at the local Sherwin Williams store for less than half the cost of the Marine Stripper by the same manufacturer and it did a great job right down to the gel coat.
