The boat is unsinkable (unlike certain other boats that have claimed that in the past)... I had the 14.2, sailed it with the boat plug out (long story, I had someone HELP me put it away), had to paddle it back, but it held ME and the water nicely. Not sure about the self bailing part... yes from the cockpit, but likely not from the cuddy... mine leaked like mad around the cuddy hatch... is why I'd second the boom tent.
