I seriouslyconsidered the Airhead a year ago. I did speak with a friend who had sailed aboard a boat with one and was told there was no odor. I finally decided not to go with it for 2 reasons. One, the liquid container only held something like 2 or 3 gallons. Two, my boat is stored over the winter and that would mean keeping that fan going for long stretches when I am not around to check on it.

The airhead was designed to use a solar driven vent.

If you emptied it when putting the boat in storage maybe you wouldn't need the fan. I'm assuming you don't need to poop in the boat toilet while the boat's in winter storage.
