Anyone have any eqperience with the Whitlock torque-tube steering that some of these boats have? I am wondering if they have any "feel" as do cable systems or lack same as do hydraulic systems. Thanks

In my experience, the Whitlock torque tube system provides better feedback than wire as there is less 'stretch' in the system but I suspect that in part this will depend on the specific installation. You can probably find out more by googling Whitlock and Mamba (Mamba is the product name for the torque tube system).
