Sail Repair/Service in SF Bay?

I used to bring my sails to Rui at Rooster Sails (I know it's been a while), but unfortunately I need a new go to guy? Any suggestions for a shop that has reasonable prices for just general repairs and service? Alameda area is preferred, but will cross the bay if needed.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've only used info@marchalsailmakers.com once, I thought I got good results. He modified the genoa for my boat (a Yankee Dolphin 24). Located in the "Blue Pelican" building on Alameda.

I don't know if Sutter Sails is still in existence, but if so they would probably be the only sailmaker in the Bay area with over 60 years of experience. Peter was our go to guy back when for racing and cruising sails, a real sailmaker from design to finished product. If he built you a sail, he would sail with you the first time you hoisted it to be absolutely sure it was perfect. Hopefully he has passed this attitude on to whoever is running the loft these days.

Re: Sail Repair/Service in SF Bay?

Rui moved his loft to the old Alaska Packers building sometime around 2010 before he died. Someone took over the business and location after his passing and think they were still using the Rooster Sails name. Had them do some repair work for me. They were quick, kept Rui's standards, and weren't expensive. Been a few years but might have a look. The shop was on the Estuary side of the building.

If that business is gone, the sailmaker that is upstairs one building down from Svendsens also did some quality work for me.

Capta, itís been a long time since youíve been in the Bay Area. Peter Sutter died in the 1990ís and the loft has been closed since then. Doyle is the loft near Svendsenís. Roverhi, Dominic Marchal took over Ruiís loft after he died and it is now called Marchal Sails and it is still in the same second floor location at the Alaska Packers Place (Mariner Boatyard is in back and Blue Pelican is one of the tenants on the first floor). Dom does the same quality work as Rui did and his rates are very affordable. He has done work for me and several of my friends and we are all well pleased with the results.
