Racor Filter/seperator elements

I recently discovered that Racor has changed the filter elements for the 500 series seperators.If you have a pre-1997 Racor the new element needs a spacer to fit correctly in the seperator.The first of the new filters manufactured May-June 06 had no information about the new element needing a spacer,in July-Aug they began including a note with new elements about the spacer and directing you to call an 800-telephone number to obtain a spacer if needed.(a big help when you're 100 miles offshore with a clogged filter).Finally in Sept they began including spacers with the new elements.Even the staff at chandleries didn't know about this new element until quite recently.Hope this helps someone.
