Windvanes?

I have a Pearson 34 and looking to install a windvane. Reading all the marketing info., they each sound great. Can anyone give some thoughts in this area? The Hydrovane sounds good, simply because it does not have lines running in the cockpit. However, it also appears to be very spendy.
Any experiences?
