Sabre 28 Fuel Tank
Last year I purchased a 1974 sabre 28 equipped with an Atomic 4 engine with approximately 3800 hours of service. Last season and much of this season the engine performed flawlessly, however this September the engine began to stall out while underway. I found some water and small particles in fuel filter and although I had added fuel additives to the tank during the season, I suspect fuel contamination. Any thoughts on the process to solve this problem, i.e. is it necessary to drain the tank, is there a screen or filter upstream between or in the tank prior to the fuel filter. Thanks, Rick Fagan
Did you try any water removal products like 'Heet'? You can usually find that in any parts store or gas station.
Because of the flammable nature of gasoline, emptying the tank can be tricky. Be sure to use a fuel transfer pump if you decide to pump it out.
