spinnaker sheets

just bought an asymetrical spinnaker for my 28 caliber

for the running rigging i have purchased lewmar nab shackles to attach the sheets to the clew of the sail here is the question bases on the shape of shackle a splice seems inappropriate, so does a bowline knot. i wonder if just a figure eight will hold

has any one used the nab shackle how did it work? how did you attach your sheet to this shackle

spinnaker sheets

I have not used the "nab" shackles but assmetrical spin sheets are often just tied directly onto the sail with a bowline just like a jib sheet.

spinnaker sheets

I assume you are referring to the "plastic" Lewmars. I have used them for a few years on my 30'' ULDB with a large masthead spinnaker. These are for light air sheets, only! I found out the hard way planing at near 14 knots. I have 5/16" Yalelight sheets on the smaller size Nabs. They attach by running one end through the hole, knotting it with a stop knot, then squeezing (or jamming) the knot back into the capture area between the shackle endhole and the opening part; hence, the odd shape of the fitting.

In heavier air, I use 3/8" sheets with a bowline.
