SALCA Line Cutter

Has anybody used these? It seems like a fairly inexpensive way to get a cutter on your shaft. You need a zinc anyway and this combines a zinc with a SS cutter. Thoughts?

Re: SALCA Line Cutter

Is it more expensive than just the anode? Wouldn't want to have to pay for the line cutter every time I replace the anode.

In this comparison, all the cutter styles seem to do pretty well against rope. Some have a little trouble with netting, and a tarp. Although there may be a big difference in motor boat torque vs. a little sailboat engine.

Re: SALCA Line Cutter

The cost is about $30, so about $20 more than the zinc alone. As opposed to dropping $250 - $400 for the real thing. Don't get me wrong, getting a "real one" makes good sense but getting this one makes dollars and cents.
