I saw on a web site a GPS that plugs into a USB port. It seems to me that it is fairly small and only provides positioning data for a navigational program. Does anyone have information where I might find this item.
I have a US GlobalSat GPSMouse and it works quite well. It's inside the boat and has never failed to pick up satelittes. They also have a waterproof one you can mount outside. I got mine for just under a hundred bucks from a dealer, but you can get them cheaper if you look. http://www.usglobalsat.com

And someday, I'll learn how to spell satellites too.

I just found a Garmin antenna in the bottom of an old locker in a new (to me) boat. It has a "BNC" terminal at the end of its cable. What is it for; what can it help me do? I actually have three: one mounted and two spares.

So wait, I can plug this GPS right into the USB port and use that in conjunction with my Maptech electronic charts? Is that correct.
That sounds a lot easier than trying to route a cable from the chart plotter at the helm down to the nav station.
(Does this Gps/Ubs have a built in antenna? How well does it receive down below decks? Vasco and Breezer say they works fine, I guess they must know if they have one.)
The gps is in the antenna. Just plug into usb port after you've installed the software that comes with it. Without an electronic charting program it'll give you lat/long. With a program (Captn. Fugawi etc.) it'll work like a chartplotter. Hey, price has gone down, only $79 Canadian!
