Orca Green LED Masthead Light

Has anyone used/installed Orca Green's Argo Navis LX Series TriAnchor Light (Masthead LED TriColor Navigation and Anchor Light with strobe and daylight sensor)? The lights are "2 mile visiblity" and USCG approved.

Here are the details. Not sure how durable it is, or if it has silver-plated connectors. I notice the light does not use a "fresnel lens".

It has a 0.5 Amp power draw at 12 VDC (either mode).

I have the same light. It is excellent and fairly durable. I does not use a fresnel lens, as the diodes have a lens built into them. I don't remember if the wires were tinned, but believe they were. I've been using it for about a year.

If I understand correctly you have three switching options:

1. Tri-Color Navigation Light
2. 360 Degree White Anchor Light
3. 360 Degree Anchor Light Flashing On/Off

How bright and diffuse is the light when compared with standard bulb lighting?
I guess bright enough, or you wouldn't be happy about spending $400 on it.

It's actually brighter than the anchor light I had on there, and uses far less electricity. I had looked at the lopolight unit, but it wasn't as versatile from what I could see. Also, availbility on the Lopolight unit was significantly worse at the time, but this may have changed.

The LopoLight you linked to does not have the anchor light option, whereas the OGM does. I didn't dig far enough to find out whether Lopo offers an anchor light or not. My recollection from a year ago is that the Lopo unit was more expensive (about double the price) than the OGM light, but that may have changed. I have the OGM tri-color with anchor light and photodiode, but not the strobe option. It has been excellent so far, and I am very happy with it.

I believe catamount is correct on lopolight not having a tri/anchor combo.

Lopolight has a tricolor/anchor model, but not a tri-color/strobe model.

Problem is, the Lopolight 2nm tri-color/anchor light for boats over 40' has a suggested retail of $685.00 - ouch! The Lopolight 3nm steaming light has a suggested retail of $860.00 - yeeeouch!

They're both about the size of a hockey puck.

I doubt that the lopolight is as efficient as the OGM trianchor, since the lopolight design uses a lot more LEDs.. Probably draws a fair bit more power for that reason too.
