Electric Cables in the mast.....

Hi

I am just about to install a TV aerial and a "See Me Radar" transponder and need to run cables for each inside the mast. The boat is a Jeanneau Sun Odysessy 40 and I was wondering if there were any special ways I need to approach running cables inside the mast and advice people can give me from their experiences.

Is it was a case of fitting a grommet top and bottom and pulling the cable through or are their special things I should be doing??

Sorry if this is a daft question.

Depending upon the year of the Jenneau, there may be a conduit with space available already in the mast through which the new cables can be run which results in less chafe and noise. Easier if the mast is down.

You should probably run the cables inside a conduit inside the mast, if there is one.... if not, it may be a wise idea to install one while you're doing this...as it will simplify future wiring and help protect the wiring and the halyards with in the mast from chafe. It also can reduce the noise from the cables moving inside the mast and reduce the chance of the wires breaking from work-hardening and fatiguing.
